Our journey started way before the traveling did

Saying our goodbyes to our family and friends and our place wasn't easy, detaching ourselves from the material things wasn't easy, but something deep inside kept telling us that we had to do it.

This journey started slowly, it started off as a feeling, we started to sell everything we owned, from clothes to the car, it became clear that we had a need to do away with all the stuff, and that also indicated that we were closer to making our dream a reality. We never had a definite idea of what we were going to do, we still don't have one now, but when you feel something so strongly, you know that you can only accomplish it by doing it, and that is liberating because that shows that we are capable of whatever we set our minds to, and when I say 'whatever we set our minds to', that's exactly what I mean, because once you realize that taking a first step we are starting to accomplish what we envisioned, we can then do away with all the prejudices, we can do away with those blindfolds, and we can be who we truly are. We are then free to discover everything about each other, as a family and as individuals.

Traveling with kids?, they asked: how will you manage their education? what about school?, why would you have them step outside their comfort zone? Our answers: Yes, please! we want to have them take a step outside of their comfort zones!, because that's where they'll get to be who they are meant to be. School, teaching, well, life itself is a school, and the world can be our playground. They learn every step of the way, as they get to meet new faces, as they're exposed to new languages, new traditions, new religions, new foods, different means of transportation, and as they see with their own eyes those places that are usually just heard about through stories instead of living there, so, who would not want to trade places with them?

The day we boarded that plane to Bali, we confronted all the prejudice, the dirty looks, the love, the understanding, and so many other things, and we knew that we could do this. Are changes scary? Are new experiences scary?, well, yes, it can feel scary, but as Benicio once said when he was just 4 years old: "if you try it, you'll know, if you don't try it, you won't know."

That's how we set out on our journey to Bali, which was our first destination. Bali was the place that made us feel at home, the place where we were able to start over, it's the place where we've felt at home with our friends. It's a magical island. We sometimes say that it was a mistake to start our journey in Bali, because we absolutely fell in love with it in all possible ways and it's that place where'd we'd definitely live permanently.
